A lot of SV commands that work in Half-Life also work in HLDS, such as sv_airaccelerate. There are lots of handy commands in HLDS that you can use to make your server better. Plugins for AMX MOD X (see section VI) allow players to vote for the next map. After a match, the server uses that file to decide the next map. In ordinary deathmatch games such as Half-Life, Opposing Force, Team Fortress Classic and Deathmatch Classic, they have a mapcycle.txt file which allows you to change what maps you want in the server. It is recommended that you add // custom commands at the bottom of the file to enter your own commands. In this file you can change the server name, how fast players can move and add your own commands you want to run on server startup. disable clients' ability to pause the server player bounding boxes (collisions, not clipping) This config file is executed on server startup. Use this file to configure your DEDICATED server. If you can't find it, you should look around the house for any other things that came with the router, or contact your ISP. You can go to your router and there should be a sticker showing the default gateway password (it isn't the one you use to connect to your router). Most routers have the username and password admin, but some people, like me, have the username admin and a password. You should have a prompt appear to type a username and password. NOTE: make sure you keep CMD open!! We will need it later. Type that address in the URL bar of your browser. Find the one you're using, and get the address for your Default Gateway. A list of configurations for the network devices you have will appear. In the command prompt, type the command ipconfig. Open your start menu and type cmd and open the Command Prompt. Configure the Steam inventory (kiosk system), default: 0 (0fully enabled, 3admin disabled, do not use 1 or 2) ATLAS commands can be used in-game on your server. Set the maximum time before a player corpse will despawn, default (in seconds): 1200. The Dev's talked about it on their forum and decided against that, and decided that renting servers would be a better option, literally there is proof.Finding the Default GatewayBefore you get to the server part, you need to forward some ports on your router so that Half-Life Dedicated Server (the tool we're using) can use them, and clients from other networks can access those ports. Set the min cooldown on spawning hordes, default (in seconds): 900. Enough said.Įveryone just needs to tell the truth, there is NEVER GOING TO BE A CLIENT SERVER. Then again, many players are already enjoying the game without the need to ever host thier own server. I do agree that it is a shame that some players will miss out on a great game over such a trivial issue. Perhaps when the game is complete and the servers are fit for dedicated use then it could be a possibility. As Miscreated is in EA the game is not finished and still being built by a dedicated team of Indie developers. There are currently 352 servers with 36 slots per server that you can choose to play on. Many gaming communties and individuals have already rented servers for thier friends. ![]() Originally posted by Blix:I3D hosts the servers, you can rent one through them if you wan't your own server, the option is there.
